In recent years Elgar Lodge has been very active and very sucessful in raising money for local, national and worcestershires provincial 2011 festival which ended in June this year and elgar are proud to have acheived the status of grand patron to the RMTGB ( The royal masonic trust for girls and boys ) and in doing so raising £27770.46 over the five years the festival ran, this was raised by holding many differnent forms of fund raising from claypigeon shooting, going for a drive on a sunday, a sponsored head shave, a garden party with a barbeque and even the use of a four seater aircraft and providing pleasure flights over worcestershire for donations, together with many more fund raising ideas and sponsorship.

In addition to our efforts with the festival we  also raise money in lodge for local charities and our annual ladies night has raised in excess of £10,000.00 over the last six years which has been given to charities, decided by the master's lady varying from Marie Curie, St Richards Hospice, Acorns, The Local Air Ambulance and Local Cancer and Altzheimers Charities.

We have held our ladies night evenings over the past few years at the Worcestershire County Cricket Club, the Chateux Impney Hotel and the Pear Tree Hotel at Smite

 

Elgar lodge also celebrated its 20th year in 2008 followed in 2009 by a brother initiating his father.

Elgar lodge held an emergency meeting at Rainbow Hill this year on a Saturday morning it was very popular, we started with a breakfast at 10am then had an initiation at 11.00 am and the meeting was closed by a brother who was celebrating his 100th birthday, a festive board followed at 1.00pm

In this masonic season Elgar held its installation meeting on September 15th 2011

We carried out a third degree ceromony in Catshills Lodge 8584 regular meeting on Wednesday 2nd November 2011

We carried out an initiation at our next regular meeting on Thursday 24th November 2011

We held a winter warmer meal at the Royal oak at Broadwas in December which was an excellent carvery and 24 lodge menbers and wives turned up for a social get together.

Due to a massive work load we will be holding at least one emergency meeting on a saturday morning to carry out another initiation

In our regular meeting On january 17th 2012 we carried out another initiation.

In Semper fidelis regular meeting on 6th February 2012 at rainbow Hill we carried out a second degree.

On Thursday 23rd February 2012 we had an emergency meeting to carry out a further initation.

At our regular meeting on April 19th 2012 we carried out a second degree along with our business meeting

We held our ladies festival on March 31st 2012 at the Pear Tree at Smite 105 dined raising over £1000.00 for marie  curie and air ambulance.

The next morning 16 of us in conjunction with the worcestershire masonic motoring club went or a drive in beautiful spring weather on our usual run to the forest of Dean and for the second year enjoying food outside and this year a trip down into some caves.

We held a further carvery social evening at the March hare on April 26th and 21 of us enjoyed the evening

On Friday June 1st 18 members went on a social to the swan theatre to see an eagles tribute band all had a great evening

On Sunday June 17th four members joined the WMMC drive over the drovers way for sunday lunch in Lampeter

On Saturday 4th August the worshipful master held a garden party a a brothers home in astley and a group of 40 enjoyed good food and weather during that saturday afternoon and th sum of £100.00 was raised for Droitwich young firefighters.

On Monday 10th Sepember Elgar lodge visited avon lodge in Evesham and  during the regular meeting elgar members carried out a second degree.

On Thursday 20th September the lodge held its annual installation meeting and our master invested the new master who in turn invested this years officers of the lodge.

On Monday 1st October 2012 elgar lodge visited semper fidelis lodge 529 and during their meeting carried out a third degree

Over the weekend of the 5th to the 7th of October five members of the lodge along with their wives went on the first worcesteshire masonic motoring club to the Yorkshire dales and enjoyed good weather great company good hotels and food and great driving ( write up and photos on the wmmc website )

On Saturday 20th October 2012 two past masters of the lodge joined the Worcestershire installed masters lodge

On Saturday 3rd November four elgar members and there wives had a table a Rainbow hill to support and enjoy good food and company at Avon's Lodge annual ladies festival

On Thursday November 22nd Elgar lodge held its 100th Regular meeting and coupled this with holding the 2012 prestonian lecture given by W Bro Tony Harvey P.Prov.G.Reg, Prov.G.Men ( Derbyshire) all 102 brethren who attended throughly enjoyed the lecture on Scouting and Freemasonary Two Parrallel Organisations and retiring from the lodge to enjoy a Banquet of fine foods and wines downstairs in the dining room.

On Thursday 13th December 2012 12 members enjoyed a festive meal at a restaurant owed by one if its members and enjoyed a wonderful three course meal

On Thursday 17th January the lodge carried out a third degree in its regular meeting

It was announed by the Province that two of the lodges members are to receive promotions at Provincial grand lodge in June

At the regular meeting on the 18th April the lodge carried out an excellent second degree with the tracing board and then the lodge held its annual business meeting and elected the Worshipful master for the year 2013/2014, then enjoyed excellent food and company at the festive board.

On Saturday 20th April four brethren and there wives attended the Page lodge ladies evening.

On Saturday 21st April two members and there wives attended the Bristol masonic clasic car run from the Town Hall in Bristol wavied off by the lord mayor on a 80 mile rally down into Somerset, and ending up at 1.00pm at the four pillars hotel in Wooten Under Edge for Sunday Lunch. 

 On Sunday 28th April Elgar lodge in conjunction with the Worcestershire Masonic Motoring Club held its annual run down to the Forest Of Dean and this year itinerary differed this year as it was later in month weather was not the usual warm sunshine although it was dry and the daffodils where still out. We met this year for coffee at the Speech House near Coleford this years numbers were 38 of us and were all given a route for the next 60 mins of excellent driving and the way back to the Speech House for an excellent sunday lunch. From there we drove south towards Lydney and met at the Forest of Dean Steam Railway Centre, there we had a carriage bookd to us and spent the next 90 mins on the train travelling south then north and return to the steam centre and with the company of the Steam Railway Chairman  and had the chance to ask questions and had plenty of infomation given to us about the railway line. When we got back to the centre we were given the chance to look round the engine and maintenance sheds and in there are different steam locos in varying states of rebuild, we finally left there at 5.15 pm for the pleasant drive home to our varying destinations.

On Saturday June 15th 12 members attended the annual provincial grand lodge meeting in  the great hall at Birmingham University for the in morning the new Provincial Grand master was installed and in the afternoon he held his first meeting which saw two Elgar members receive promotions.

On Wednesday June 19th 2013 eight of us attended the Swan Theatre in Worcester to see Talon ( best of the Eagles ) our second visit and a great night had by all the music was excellent to.

On Sunday 23rd June 2013 12 of us joined the annual Drovers way Run over to Tregarron for sunday lunch whih is organised by the Worcestershire Masonic Motoring Club and enjoyed excellent driving in different weather great food and the 12 then drove to Aberaeron to enjoy ice cream on a vrery cold wind swept Harbour side.

On Saturday August the 17th 11 Members had tea at the old Stanbrook Abbey at Callow End and all enjoyed the food drinks and the tour of the ex nunnery

On Friday 14th September 2013 five members and their wives attended the WMMC AGM and BBQ at Chaddesley cricket club held in torrential rain.

On Thursday 20th 2013 at our installation meeting W Bro David Hinchliffe installed Bro Adrian Davis into the chair in a wonderful manner watched by 88 brethren, and a fine festive board followed late into the evening.

On Friday 4th October 2013 7 members and there wives attended the WMMC motoring weekend to Chester and North Wales an excellent time was had by all including a first degree at St Peters Lodge Chester and an excellent overnight stay and dinner at the Penmaenuchaf Hotel Just outside Dollgellau followed on sunday by more driving ending up at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel for lunch all accompanied by the Worcestershire Provincial Grand Master, and WMMC members from Semper Fidelis Lodge, two members from Bristol and three of the St Peters Lodge Including the Candidate from Friday Evenings Meeting

On Saturday 23rd November 2013 six members and there wives attended the Semper Fidelis Ladies dinner at the Pear Tree, Smite Nr Worcester.

At our regular meeting on Thursday 28th November 2013 the IPM carried out a wonderful first degree to our new initiate who was an excellent candidate, watched by 38 brethren and a fine festive board followed.

On Thursday 12th December 2013, twenty of us met up at a brothers restaurant the Hampstall inn at Astley Burf, near Stourport On Severn. ( www.hampstallinn.com ) which is placed on the banks of the River Severn and we enjoyed a very tasty three course meal which included a carvery, all with great service by Steve and his staff and  a raffle was held and £60.00 was raised for lodge charities.

At the lodge regular meeting meeting on Thursday 16th January 2014 it held a third degree, the evening was a wonderful evening and every officer and the candidate were on top form in producing excellent work and ritual a meeting attended by some 33 masons, in this meeting we proposed a further two initiate's and two further joining members. 

On Saturday 18th January 2014 at its regular meeting at Kings Heath our master became a new member of Worcestershire Installed Masters Lodge watched by four other members of Elgar Lodge. 

On Sunday 19th January 2014, six members and there family attended evensong at Worcester Cathedral along with the Rulers and many other masons to be present at the First Day of Music to be held in honour of our Past Provincial Grand Master Richard Goddard, this will be held in future on the 19th January which is also Richards Birthday, all went then on to a reception at Rainbow Hill, Worcester in his honour.

At our next regular meeting on Thursday April 17th 2014 we carried out a second degree ceremony, the candidate answering his questions very confidently and with accuracy, our annual business meeting then followed.

On Sunday 27th of April 2014, 12 members along with wives and partners attended the Worcestershire Masonic Motoring Club's, The Counties Scenic Run, which started with breakfast at the Pear Tree, Smite Nr Worcester, and then followed a set route taking in a coffee stop and driving into the neighbouring counties of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, and taking in Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb and some of the Elgar route which included Sir Edward Elgar's Birthplace, the Church where he is buried and area's along Jubilee Drive, Malvern again on that route. All returning to the Pear Tree for a three course lunch followed by a raffle and an auction held by Philip Serrell  our local antique's expert, and raising £2500.00 for St Richard's Hospice.

The lodge held its annual founders and past masters evening on Thursday 19th June 2014 where our master elect gave details of his officers and plans for the forthcoming year and then wives joined us and we enjoyed an excellent meal.

Congratulations to two members of our lodge who received honours at the recent PGL meeting at Birmingham University one being an active first appointment and the other a promotion.

On  Sunday 29th June 2014 27 members of the lodge including our new Hon Member the Provincial Grand Master and his wife and some of our lodge widows enjoyed an afternoon tour of Hartlebury Castle, we gathered in the car park and were treated to an impromptu flying display from a Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire, we were split into two groups and had an almost two hour tour of the castle including state rooms, library, gallery and chapel, meeting back up  high tea was served which was excellent and following a look round the front garden photos of the day were taken in warm summer sunshine. On Sunday the 13th July 2014 members and families turned out for the annual provincial cathedral service at Worcester followed by various strawberry teas.

On Sunday the 19th August 2014 21 members joined members and families of the Wyche lodge at a pig roast in varied weather near Ombersley during which money was raised for charity.

At our installation meeting on Thursday the 18th September 2014 our new master W Bro Mark Taylor was installed into the chair and he in turn invested his officers an excellent festive board followed and the meeting finished just before 10.30 pm.

 On Friday the 3rd October 2014 some 26 members of the WMMC including seven members of the lodge and our new initiate for our November meeting, made there way in good weather to the Pilgrim Inn in Marchwood in Hampshire for our Annual WMMC weekend, this year we stayed at the one hotel for both nights, 11, Brethren including our Provincial grand Master were picked up and taken to the Eling Manor Lodge in near by Totten and enjoyed a 3rd Degree and good festive board, while the ladies enjoyed a superb meal at the hotel and were joined by the returning brethren later that evening. After Breakfast on Saturday Morning the heavens opened and at 9.45 we left the hotel for our planned route down to Lymington and the Coast with views of the isle of Wight, then make our way to Ringwood for a tour of the Ringwood Brewery at 12.00, this was excellent and any visitor will be enthralled by the tour and guides knowledge and everyone can go to the free bar and take a souvenir glass away, a quick bite to eat and then back into the now dry new forest to Bucklers Hard where Nelson's fleet was built and a cruise down the river Beaulieu before going back to the hotel for an excellent dinner wine and good company. After breakfast on Sunday we all left for the short trip to the National Moor Museum at Beaulieu, this was excellent could of easy spent the day there looking around the museum, grounds, house, gardens and top gear world, following lunch on site we all set off on different routes back to our homes having enjoyed a wonderful weekend.

At our regular meeting on Thursday the 27th November 2014 we carried out a first degree our Worshipful Master carried out an excellent ceremony for his Father all enjoyed and 42 had a excellent evening both upstairs in the lodge room and downstairs at the festive board, Turkey was on the menu.

On  Wednesday the 17th of December 2014 17 lodge members met up at the Hampstall Inn near Stourport On Severn for our now annual Christmas meal both food and company was excellent.

On Thursday the 15th of January 2015 at our regular lodge meeting we held our second initiation of the season it was a superb evening all officers were outstanding and god candidate followed by an excellent festive board.

At the regular meeting on April 17th 2015 we held our annual business meeting in which W Bro Geoff Hudspith was declared as the next master of the lodge after which the lodge enjoyed a fascinating talk on masonry by a very good friend of the lodge, following which we all enjoyed a festive board.

At the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting on Saturday June 13th 2015 at Birmingham University last years master was given the provincial honours of Provincial Grand Steward, Well done Adrian, many members of the lodge were in attendance at the meeting.

On Sunday July 26th 2015 13 members enjoyed a get together at the Annual Wyche Strawberry tea at Defford.

On Sunday the 16th August 2015 five members and their wives enjoyed the WMMC Cotswold run, Lunch and cream tea at Ettington Park Hotel Nr Stratford On Avon.

On Sunday the 6th September 13 members once again met up at Wyche Lodge's annual pig roast the weather was fantastic and all enjoyed.

On Thursday the 17th September 2015 at the regular meeting W Bro Mark Taylor Installed his successor W  Bro Geoff Hudspith, Fifty four Brethren were present including three Rulers and our past PGM, all watched Mark perform a great Installation and then all retired to the festive board to enjoy a four course meal.

On Sunday the 27th September 2015 10 members went along to the annual provincial cathedral service, being later in the year this year all were able to enjoy the Cathedrals Choir in full voice. 

On Friday the 2nd Of October 2015, 19 cars carrying 38 members including six lodge members and our Provincial Grand Master and his wife drove north in lovely Autumn sunshine for a weekend in the Lake District and we all met at the Briery Wood Hotel on Windermere, a 24 bedroom Hotel set in stunning woodland and boasting great attentive staff a very caring manage and excellent chefs, The ladies on this evening ate in the Hotel while the brethren drove 20 miles north to Keswick to attend the Derwent Water Lodge which on this evening was their business meeting, The Provincial Grand Master of Cumberland and Westmoreland was also in attendance to deliver a 50 certificate to a Past Deputy  Provincial Grand Master, and attended with his provincial team, Later a the festive board which was the local Cumberland Sausage with Mushy Peas, Mash and Onion Gravy, the Worshipful Master Presented our  Provincial Grand Master with a stunning photo of Derwent Water suitably inscribed, in turn our Provincial Grand Master presented the lodge with a bottle of Provincial Sauce ( Lea & Perrins ) and their Provincial Grand Master with a bottle of ' export strength ' Provincial Sauce in a Gold bottle, after a low drive back to the hotel due to foggy conditions all enjoyed a drink in the bar before retiring for the night. After an early breakfast and departure in misty condition's we drove to Derwent Water for a trip around the lake in a beautiful wooden ferry owned by a local lodge member in what could be described by those of us outside as bracing conditions,, this trip was provided free of charge so we held a collection and using gift aid will be able to send of over £260.00 to the Province of Cumberland & Westmoreland as a thank you which they in turn can use for their 2016 festival, after a quick coffee we made our way to the nearby Lakes Distillery where we had lunch and enjoyed a tour of the very new complex. Back in the cars and we found ourselves driving very narrow and steep roads over the Honister Pass, passing the slate mine and heading to the Borrowdale Hotel for tea, following which we headed for Troutbeck before driving the Kirkstone Pass which was again steep in places but the roads were wider and provided great driving roads, returning to the hotel at 18.30 we had time to change for dinner and enjoy a drink in the bar, Dinner that evening was wonderful, fantastic presented food served by two Australian waitresses ironic as England were playing Australia that evening in the Rugby World Cup lots of banter  was enjoyed by all, after dinner we retired to the bar for a drink and conversation. After a later breakfast on the Sunday and in dry but grey weather conditions we all left the hotel all of us waved off by the manager Roger for a short tip through Bowness to the Lakeland Motor Museum, having special parking for our group we all enjoyed a walk around the Moor Museum and  its 20,000 exhibits, on the same site was the Bluebird Exhibition and steam railway, there was time to enjoy a coffee in the on site restaurant before the return journey home all reflecting on a great weekend in the Lake District.

At our regular meeting on Thursday the 26th of November 2015 the lodge carried out a second degree which was an excellent evening we also heard a proposal for a candidate for initiation.

On Thursday the 17th of December 2015 16 members met at the Hampstall inn, Astley Burf near Stourport On Severn and enjoyed the annual Christmas meal, Steve and Karen and their staff providing three great courses and good service thanks.

On Thursday the 21st of January 2016, at the first regular meeting of the new year the Lodge Director of Ceremonies gave a talk on Etiquette in the lodge and festive board and a demonstration of signs, perambulations, closings among many other items, all members and visitors thought it was an excellent item and to be repeated in the future.

During the regular meeting on Thursday the 21st of April 2016, with some 90 brethren present including the Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire,  and four members from a lodge in Bruges assembled to watch a planned demonstration of a Russian 1st degree ceremony which unfortunatley was cancelled at the very last minute due to ill health and W Bro John Tapson PAGDC stood in at the very last minute to give a talk on the library and museum.

At the regular meeting on Thursday the 15th of September 2016, W Bro G Hudspith installed  W Bro K Hall into the chair in a very good flowing ceremony following which all retired for a great festive board.

During the weekend of the 7th to the 9th of October 2016 eight members took part in the Wocestershire Masonic Motoring Club weekend to pembrokeshire including the Worshipful Master and the Provincial Grand Master.

At the Regular meeting on November the 24th 2016 the lodge performed an initiation which was excellent and afterwards enjoying food and company at the festive board.

On Thursday the 15th of December 2016 the lodge held its annual Christmas dinner at the Hampstall Inn at Astley Burf, all enjoying great food and company and t taste the Worshipful Master's five year old Christmas Pudding made by his own hands which has recieved a regular drink of brandy.

At the regular meeting on January the 19th 2017 the lodge carried out a third degree followed by a festive board.

At the regular meeting on Thursday the 20th of April 2017 the lodge held the annual business meeting and carried out a second degree.
